A study of cold roll forming technology and peak strain behavior of asymmetric corrugated channels

The peak strain (PS) of sheet metal highly affects the process design and quality roll formed product. Different from traditional forming technology (RFT) that all cross section contours product are rolled simultaneously, a symmetric RFT is developed with respect to corrugated channels avoid defects like tearing, twist, redundant deformations. behaviors their strains subsequently simulated finite element (FE), effects three factors rolling speed, friction coefficient, bending angle analyzed, respectively. Finally, both rationality accuracy final verified by experiments. Results show maximum also distinguished for different channel width, two symmetrical simultaneously even under same pressure roll. PS narrow significantly larger than wide, closer middle channel, greater which on right trough. Moreover, mainly influenced coefficient first pass.
